Athens: Lonely Planet travel video clip

Lonely Planet author Victoria Kyriakopoulos warns that Athens may not inspire love at first sight but that it’s worth keeping an open mind. The magnificent Acropolis sits high at the centre of the city and is central to its psyche. In its shadow is Plaka, an area of little streets full of old-style cafes, bars and taverna – a great place to start. Gritty and vibrant, every time you think that you’ve discovered the city’s hub of activity, you go around the corner and figure out that it’s only a glimpse of what the city has to offer.
